In Men's bible study Tuesday morning, I brought the following verses to share with the group found in Matthew chapter 7 verses 24-27.
24 "Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it."
The thought of "where are we building our treasure" came to mind. Are we investing time and effort into the house built on the rock or sand. I was talking with a friend of mine and he said that you can look at the check register in your checkbook to get an idea of what is important to you by where you are investing your resources. Do we spend more money on renting movies then we give to the church? Not that it is all about money, but where you spend your money is a good indication of where you are building your treasure.
Invest in the house that is on the rock. Everything in this world will pass and at the end of it all, the treasure stored in the house on the rock will be the only thing left.
